A dutch oven lets you do casseroles and bake breads and desserts in camp. Lids have a rim to keep coals on top and a handle in the middle; heavy wire bail handle is attached to the body and balanced to carry the whole oven. Anodized models have a durable coating that makes cleanup easier and promotes even heating. The process makes them non-porous and stick-resistant.
High-performance, non-reactive, hard anodized aluminum construction provides exceptional efficiency and uniformity. Cast aluminum is rust free, easy to clean and weighs 66% less than cast iron. Edge lip holds coals and charcoal. 14 model boasts deep design Fixed Legs
I’ve got the cast-iron by Lodge but these aluminum Dutch ovens are my favorite. I’ve got the 14 inch, the 12 inch, and 10 inch. I have used them for years and love them. I think they cook as well as the cast-iron, or at least well enough that I can’t tell the difference. If you have any doubts, just pick one up. Once you see how much lighter they are, you’ll fall in love too.
