These excellent oarlocks are made of a strong magnesium, aluminum and copper alloy, that gives them “memory” so the horns can flex slightly to release a crabbed oar but will spring back to their original shape.

They are guaranteed against breakage during normal use, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to carry a spare. Oarlocks don’t float, so if you fumble one while you’re out on the water you’re likely to lose it.

Check new oarlocks to make sure they fit in your oarlock stands and the horns are a proper fit with your oars. It’s a lot easier to use a sledge and vice at home to adjust the horns than it is at the put-in with a rock.
